Dell OptiPlex GS-5133L
The low profile pizza box.
The main rig for demoscene coding, although probably not the best performing
motherboard nor VGA card, but probably similar to what I really had in 1997.
Upgrade plan
To make it more "demoscene" compatible under MS-DOS.
- ✅ CPU: my brave P54CS Pentium 200 Mhz (the exact one I used in my 1997-1998 PC)
- ✅ RAM: 64 MB / 2x 32 MB EDO SIMM 50ns Mosel V53C517405AK50 (limited to 64MB for compatibility with GUS Mega-Em)
- ✅ CD-RW: Philips CDRW800 Series (PCRW804) 8x/4x/32x CD-RW from a previous rig (read:OK, write:KO TBC)
- ✅ AUDIO: Installed my old Gravis UltaSound MAX
- OS: upgrade WIN95 OSR1 to OSR 2.1
- VIDEO: Tseng Labs ET6000 was the demoscene standard in 1996 thanks to its
memory throughput. At that time, and if I'm not wrong, I had an ATI 3D Rage.
- HDD: replace the quiet noisy Quantum drive with a Disk On Module?
- ✅ NIC: Intel PRO/100 S (less compatibilty problems than the 3Com 3C905C-TX-M ETHERLINK 10/100Mbps with the GUS Max)
